first and foremost, this is the rule everyone should know; be respectful. keep personal feelings out of the chatbox and off the site, really; we don't really want to hear about all your crazy life drama all the time. this is supposed to be about us having fun, a sort of escape, and when you start bringing real life drama into other people's lives, its not fun anymore. keep your feelings about other people and their characters to yourself--if you don't like them, don't plot. if you do encounter problems with another member, bring it up to an admin, that's what we're here for! talk to us about any problems you may be having, even if they're with the admins themselves. in the end, we expect you to treat other people with respect. that being said, please respect what the staff have to say at all times. if we tell you no, the answer is simply no. we're super easy to talk to, i promise you that, and none of us are ever going to jump down your throat, so please bring all questions to us, even if you believe they're stupid.
when you register, please register with your character's name like this--FIRST LAST in ALL UPPERCASE
. thankfully, jcink has the ability to force proper registration case, but do remember to register with just your first and last name for your character. if your character doesn't have a last name, obviously register with whatever name they do use. you MUST ALSO
fill out the information in your mini profile. please. i know its a pain, there's a lot of things to fill out, but it'll look so good when its done.
as far as your characters go, make them believable at least. try and heed the regulations of your species and try not to have too many contradictions. a timeline of events will be added if you need it, but the 'great war' happened 300 years ago and cross rose to power 30 years ago. shouldn't be too hard, right? also, sexuality is all well and good, but don't make your whole character about their sexuality. as well, we're incredibly lgbqt+ friendly, but i'd prefer if you kept all discussions about your character's sex lives out of the chatbox for the most part; keep that cbox pg-13!
as far as histories go, not everyone has had a horrible life, don't go overboard on this either. if you're worried that, maybe, your character might be considered "too perfect", just hit up a staff member. as well, this works both ways; the super insanely tortured also get really old, really fast. as well, and it should be obvious, god-modding is also very bad; if you have permission to do something with someone else's character in a post, more power to you. however, don't just start and assume that a character will do this, or that. if you've got permission to move around another player's character in your posts? go for it.
we don't have any specific types of rules here, but we request that you have ten posts on your last accepted character. one out of those ten posts must be either a reply to a thread, a started thread, or a reply to an open thread. so you must have one, in character post along with all the other posts on your last account in order to make another character.
we may be a no word count site, but we expect you to be literate! we want real quality on the applications, even if they are shipper apps, so make sure you're able to write enough about your character before you join, as that's what's going to show us all about them. as your character develops, however, you are always welcome to rewrite and get an admin to look over your application (or simply rewrite certain parts, add and subtract) again. as for what tense you roleplay in, that doesn't really matter. third or first person, even second person, are fine. again, spelling and grammar are always nice, there's a spellcheck button, so use it, please. we can let grammar slide a bit, since this isn't supposed to be an english lecture, but try to be careful; we have plenty of RPers from other countries, non-native english speakers, so we're not really going to jump on you for grammar mistakes, so don't worry. make sure that you're able to write quality, as we'd consider ourselves to be somewhat advanced. small posts are, however, fine, we just want you to write what you're comfortable with! don't ever feel like you need to match someone's word count, but at least give them something to go off of!
everyone is required to have a 250x450 avatar, and 3 gifs/images (2 rectangular, 1 square). as well as images for your character's significant other, if they have one--otherwise, you get an extra gif. we do not have signatures enabled at all, as there's no use for them. if you need help making images, just PM lauz and she'll set you up! or, if you like, make a thread for graphics in the general chat forum if you need them. just please fill out all your images in your mini profile, they'll all resize to a proper size, so no worries.
we have mandatory
templates that you absolutely must use all over the site for posts, shipper replies, and random general templates. we're not too worried about you posting absences and whatnot without the templates, those are ooc things and we're not too concerned. but please use the other templates everywhere else and no outside templates are allowed. you can, however, edit certain things about the templates; there are a mountain of post templates, so there should be no trouble finding one to suit your needs!
we know that real life happens, we won't begrudge you that. real life always comes first, but there's an absence forum for a reason, so please use it. don't let us go around thinking that you fell off the face of the earth. that being said, if you're going to be away for months, we can't guarantee that you won't be made inactive. your account will remain, but your application will be archived and all your claims purged. we feel bad for having to do it, but its been our experience that people that say they're going to be gone for a month usually never come back. you must update your absence
once every three weeks
. if you're going to be gone for 2+ months, we're going to ask that you consider stepping away and coming back when life calms down.
we do activity checks roughly every month on the 1st of the month
; i know they're annoying, but they're absolutely necessary. if you fail to answer an activity check, we change your usergroup to inactive, delete your face claim and shadow claim (when applicable) and move your shipper app to the archives. if you find yourself under the inactive group and would like to come back and play, please message an admin. after you follow their instructions, you need to reclaim your shadow and face as long as your face isn't taken
. that CAN happen, and if it does, you need to find a new face claim. so, long story short, just posting in a shipper doesn't count as an in character post. if you're taking the time to make characters, then you should definitely want to make the effort to post with some people. as for activity checks, we'll be checking your activity for 3 weeks up to the activity check.
we are, indeed, a mature roleplay, so that means that there may be some subject matter not suitable for a younger audience. as it is, you must be at least 13 to join jcink in the first place, but you must be old enough and mature enough to handle dark themes; violence, gore, drugs, and sex. we are also jcink premium, so any mature content is allowed, please just make sure to mark your threads if you believe you're delving into dangerous territory with an [M] in the thread title.
you can only have 3 faces reserved at a time. along with that, WE'RE ONLY GOING TO LET YOU RE-RESERVE A FACE ONCE
. so, basically, you reserve a PB for the given seven days, it runs out, you may re-reserve, but then you MUST get that character done in the next seven days; you won't be allowed to re-reserve that face again. how will we know? we're going to ask you to mark it off for us in the face claim. if you're not honest with us, we're going to take away your reserve altogether. now, what do you do if you're still not done that character in 14 days? you don't get to re-reserve the face, so if you still want to use the PB, you should try and get up a finished application. you can't just post a blank application and expect us to save your face for you, it doesn't work that way.
we have no rules about how old your PB should look in comparison to your character, though we do ask, if they're younger, that they LOOK younger. ie: if your character is actually 23 that they be in that range. otherwise, you can have a 1938 year old ancient and they can look 30. as well, no one under the age of 16 is allowed; just don't do it, its creepy, especially if you want to be shipping them. as well, do not use deceased celebrities, please be respectful. a big thing we want to bring up is faceshipping; we love that here, but your character should not be built around a faceshipping plot. we've had too many people try and recreate popular TV shows (the vampire diaries, the originals, teen wolf) because the actors were available here. do not do that. if we start seeing more and more plots popping up where you're all using faces from popular TV shows and shipping them, we're going to ask you to refrain. we don't mind couples using faces from shows or real life couples as long as the plot isn't solely focused on the face claim. also, you can use any kind of face claim you want. youtubers, porn stars (just use PG rated images and gifs, please!), just make sure they have a decent amount of images to use.
as always, we expect questions in the chatbox. at the same time, we don't want any drama inside it. for all the new members and guests reading this rule, this is geared towards you as well; if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all
. just because you dislike how we run a certain aspect of the site, doesn't mean you have the right to say anything about it in a way that is inflammatory; remember that you have every right to leave if you don't like something about us. that's the beauty of the internet, after all! if you have real concerns, you need to PM an admin. don't start trouble in the chatbox, don't whine about all the drama in your life, please just keep it light and friendly. remember that guests can see the chatbox and we really don't want to be offending anyone.
