elion is about the size of our jupiter, perhaps even larger and the atmosphere is not separated into layers; they experience day and night in the same 24 hour cycle
. no one is really sure how old the planet itself is and anything that may give away the approximate age of elion hasn't been found yet. the surface of elion is divided into seven continents; pixis, zion, iseth, north ocoris, south ocoris, vailon, and zweis
currency on elion is made of various silver and gold coins as well as levels of gemstone. the name of their currency is chronos
and is sectioned off as follows amethyst, silver, ruby/sapphre
(they are interchangeable), emerald, gold, and diamond
. as far as denominations go, amethyst is the base at 1, silver is 5, ruby/sapphire is 10, emerald is 20, gold is 50, and diamond is 100. ergo, one diamond is worth 5 emerald, and emerald is worth 20 amethyst. the symbol for this currency is ₴
julius cross, however, has been trying to get his own currency installed which he has called nox. it has only taken off in areas and cities where cross' influence is the highest as many rebels still use chronos and other cities in elion use a barter system. bartering is much more popular in smaller cities. nox is made of two materials; silver and copper--silver is worth double the copper--there are also two sizes, small and large. 1 small silver nox has a denomination of 2, 1 small copper nox has a denomination of 1, 1 large silver nox has a denomination of 10, and 1 large copper nox has a denomination of 5. for those of us not great with math; 1 large silver nox would equal 2 large copper nox or 10 small copper nox (alternatively, it would equal 5 small silver nox) the symbol for nox currency is ø.
religion as it stands now in elion is varied. each species has its own beliefs on how they came to be and what's out there. however, at one point, there was the belief in a unified deity out there known only as the almighty
. genderless by nature, the almighty is supposedly responsible for the birth of the planet, possibly even the universe. like most religions, you can choose to believe in the almighty or not, and like everything else, sometimes you will face persecution. there are cathedrals, altars, and other such places of worship for those that choose to worship the almighty. the primary purpose of the almighty's word is to live in peace and harmony with all those and everything around you.
flora & fauna
all the typical flora and fauna one would find on our earth save for some specific plants and animals. talking trees guarded by spirits, huge oaks and redwoods that span almost to the sky. flowers that glow in the dark and winged tortoises
, not to mention a huge bloodfang direwolf
population in south ocoris. if you can imagine it, it probably exists. there have never been dinosaurs but there is also a large woolly mammoth
population in vailon as well. they are considered most rare and hunting them is illegal; hunting the direwolves is also illegal. the direwolves are incredibly rare pets, usually only kept by those in the highest power, as they're also very finnicky animals. woolly mammoths are sometimes used as battle mounts, but the ones that are have been bred for that purpose, generally by cross himself. vailon is home to a very specific breed of polar bear known, lovingly, as the angel bear
. they make amazing pets and watchdogs, are about the size of a full grown female polar bear, and they hold control over ice--something that no one's really sure how they learned. they differ from normal polar bears in that they tend to lend themselves to the angels, of their own volition, and know that they have a special relationship with the peacekeeping angels. they appear to be more canine than bear, oftentimes with long tails, but a bear's frame. on the other hand, down in zweis, the animals are better suited for warmer temperatures. like the angels, the demons have their own special breed of animal; the fire panther
. this creature was not bred of natural circumstances and are, instead, a hybrid species created by the demon council. the fire panther is like your average, black panther, but its eyes are the color of crackling fire and their mouths brim with saliva that, when they will it, can turn into flashes of fire; they are an elemental breed that can, and will, produce fire at will.
the northernmost and southernmost points of elion are the coldest, things get progressively warmer from there. seasons
happen normally through all of elion and go by the same names as we have on earth (spring, autumn, winter, and summer). places such as the tallest mountain regions snow all year round due to their height. as well, the wastelands goes through seasons but still remains the coldest area in elion. seasons happen in extremes in temperate climates; the closer you get to the middle of the world, the less drastic the seasons are.
formerly full of all the kingdoms of every major species that exists, elion has been reduced to a dictatorial
world run by julius cross. certain species have maintained some kind of internal power; the shifters have 2 packs, the vampires have a coven, the valkyrie have a kingdom, the ancients are run by elders, the elves are run by ancestors, the faeries and sirens have a singular noble family, and the angels and demons have councils
. valkyrie and ancients are among the oldest species and have kept their hold on their respective lands. cross has agreed to let everyone keep their territories for the sake of appearing magnanimous, though he has greatly cut them back. rule inside those territories goes according to the alphas that rule it, however, at any time cross and his army can decide to revoke all privileges they granted. currently holding the most power is julius cross and his generals; loupe, mercier, sunchaser, and lee
. if they proclaim something, it shall be done. civil rights have been cut and many people have been tossed into slave labor. there is much unrest and a resistance
rose to fight these injustices, which is why the school in foxfyre was born.
any technology we have on earth exists in elion. however, there have been various technological advancements made with the help of certain magicks. there are teleportation centers that have become popular ways to travel. holograms are no longer a thing of sci-fi in elion and you can freely talk to loved ones via hologram; they are, however, just that, and you can't physically touch a hologram. as for transportation, steampunk is all the rage--though obviously the inhabitants don't call it that. giant steam engines and olden style cars with ornate designs. airships are the best way to navigate the skies and airplanes as we know it them not exist. aquatic vessels are also steam powered with the same ornate designs as everything else. for the vanity, you understand.
simply put, fashion varies per species usually, but can be anything you imagine. older nobility will prefer older fashion senses, sometimes victorian or medieval. faeries and elves prefer airy fashion while sirens love anything that gives the appearance of water. vampires like darker clothing, often opting for tighter things, while shifters will take on whatever they feel is appropriate for their climate. angels and demons are usually very pompous in their fashion sense, covering themselves in gemstones and whatnot. valkyrie are big on high fashion while ancients are very humble but also prefer patterns. there is a uniform for the school in foxfyre consisting of dark blazers and plaid skirts/pants. as well, cross' army has their own uniform and are distinguished by the shocking red that they wear like beacons.
cross' army is the biggest threat right now, but other species have come together and created their own militaries to help fight if need be. the sirens organized a navy which is open to any species to join, and they are anti-cross. the angels and demons have a very powerful army that is divided down the middle as far as whether they support cross or not--the angels are for, the demons are against. the vampires have a military that is set on training assassins and they work in tandem with the elves who have done the same. foxfyre is a school that's set on training people of all ages to become warriors for any potential battles ahead and was formerly run by the woman that created the resistance. now it is owned by the son of said woman, while the resistance is run by him and two of the oldest members. cross' army is run up by four generals and their captains and they are known for being particularly ruthless.
drugs don't exist in these worlds as we know them and they are, instead, much more potent to be able to work on the species they're intended for. drugs can be made out of anything, any kind of magic, and yes, there are big illegal trades out there for such things. there are a myriad of drugs that can be found amongst the continents.
CARTHALINUM - a cream-colored powder that is highly addictive and directly affects reaction time, vision, and gives the feeling of not being tired. but when it wears out, some of the after effects include blindness, going into a catatonic state, along with your regular withdrawal symptoms such as fevers, chills, and irritability. street names for this are bone powder, ivory, and thali. as can be expected, carthalinum is made of the ground bones of woolly mamoth (which already makes this ten times as illegal), melted down and reconstituted into a powder once more after being dried for a few hours. one mammoth will produce about 1 ton of bone powder.
SLIME - a very basic name for an incredibly potent and addictive drug. usually found only in south ocoris, slime is the name given to the residue found on scepter frogs from scepter marsh. when cooking, the frogs are usually flash boiled to burn off any of the hallucinogenic, toxic slime, but get your hands on it and you're in for a trip. because it is a toxin, if you take too much, you are guaranteed to go into a comatose state, experience paralysis, and even just stop breathing. effects include about four hours worth of a high and a near-catatonic state wherein everything just seems to be floating and surreal. the slime has been used as a topical anesthetic in the past when doing surgeries, but that's after its been properly treated. there are no street names for this drug; just say slime and everyone will know what you're talking about.
YURAELIS - a hallucinogenic drug that has to be properly diluted with water, or you could die from it. not as addictive as carthalinum, but definitely just as dangerous, if not more so. sometimes known to cause mania or depression. while the general high does not last more than a few hours, you can have lapses for days, weeks, and in extreme cases months after, where you may or may not hallucinate people, places, or objects around you. street names are sweet water, lilac (due to its pale purple color after dilution), and vision.
SHADEFLOWER - a smokable--or drinkable-- drug, totally something that gets turned into a tea. similar to our earth's marijuana, but harder to get your hands on and way more expensive. it is good for relaxation and numbness, potentially addictive but usually so rare it's generally harmless in that aspect. in very rare cases, it is given to people in extreme amounts of pain or near death to make their passing easier, usually in a liquid form in this case. the petals of the flower are most potent, but leaves will work just as well and sell at a lower price. various street names for this drug are grey lady, the lady, and lady death.
most illnesses that the species are susceptible to are written in their descriptions; no one is completely immune, seeing as how this is a world made completely of these supernatural creatures, diseases have had time to build and change enough to affect everyone on the planet. so yes, anyone can die. there are, however, a few very specific illnesses for certain species.
SOMNOLENCE - a word meaning 'sleepiness' which is much too light a word for what this sickness is. somnolence is the spellcaster's sickness, only contracted by people that consider themselves spellcasters (whether they work with a staff, glyphs, spellbooks, or otherwise). somnolence starts as that drowsiness, a sleepiness that, no matter how long you lay down, you can't seem to escape; fatigue. many believe they're simply overworking themselves and don't take it seriously. from there, if not caught quickly, somnolence turns into a debilitating plight resulting in physical symptoms of sickness and, eventually, mental deterioration. its been explained as a corruption of magic that overtakes the host's body, especially if that person is prone to using dark magics such as blood magic, necromancy, and curses/hexes. however, even light mages can contract somnolence if they use their abilities to heal too often and too freely. somnolence is curable up until a certain point, then it is impossible to retract. curing of somnolence is usually done by elder spellcasters that have the mental fortitude to ward the illness away while helping others. the quiss flower that grows in north ocoris is a key component to healing the disease.
NIGHT SICKNESS - a result of spending too long in the darkness or around others of a negative variety (sometimes demons, other times just those that harbor too many dark thoughts). too much negativity can cause an angel to fall into depression and even suicidal thoughts and actions. night sickness is easily cured by spending days in the sun, as the vitamin d from the sun will naturally replenish any that an angel is missing; usually it takes one full day outdoors for an angel to recover from night sickness.
DAWN SICKNESS - essentially, the opposite of night sickness: a result of spending too long in the sunlight. unlike angels, being around positive emotions doesn't inspire the syndrome in demons; having various powers used against them, most often those dealing in emotion manipulation, is suspected to also be a cause. a surge in positivity can cause a demon to feel lost, to feel as though they are losing touch with themselves and reality, and can also cause hallucinations. dawn syndrome is easily cured by spending time in the dark and staying away from the sun to reduce vitamin d levels; like angels, it usually just takes a full day for a demon to recover.
WING ROT - something that only affects faeries. wing rot is just as it sounds; the rotting of a faerie's wings. it is a bacteria that can be contracted that covers a faerie's wings and, like a flesh-eating virus, just starts to deteriorate one's wings. it is easily cured, though definitely painful if you don't have the means or you don't realize that you've got it.

this little patch of water is a strange place indeed. it is subject to random, thick fogs of different kinds and colors, making it hard to traverse; though the sight of eirline breaking through the din is just all the more welcoming.
ruins of rose they're not really ruins, entirely--in fact, there's still a whole society living in them. the ruins of rose are where a commune of minotaurs have made their home, a matriarchal society, the ruins actually are quite beautiful and untouched, leaving the minotaurs to live in peace.

floating forest this forest does not actually float but something about polarity here makes it so that in this forest's gravity is out of whack. people are able to walk up trees and hover over the ground without use of any wings or powers. it's a nice place to meditate, but not so much to hunt. as well, its very treacherous to wander through, many of the trees stretch like a labyrinth. it separates foxfyre from the rest like a protective barrier.
luminous the sand in this desert is said to be pieces of shattered, fallen stars. those who need to travel across this desert are advised to travel during the night, for during the day the sand soaks up the sun, shining bright enough to blind anyone that passes. during the night, the sand glows with the energy of that soaked up sunlight, shining soft like a night light.

mercier's fortress less intimidating than some of the other fortresses, but certainly no less dangerous. chained outside are two massive polar bears that get the royal treatment--its unknown whether or not they're animals or actually shifter pets of mercier herself. the building itself is carved of stone and carries creeping vines all the way around.
the spider's web also known as the simply 'the coliseum', run by mercier, this place is named because once you get caught in this web you aren't getting out. many people die fighting the tournaments that take place here. the ones who live, are stuck here fighting until they do die. marfalls a place of great wonder and beauty, marfalls is home to cascading waterfalls; but these aren't ordinary waterfalls. the waters here flow up and backward rather than forward and down. its an anomaly that people have never been able to understand or explain.
one look at this place, and it is obvious that only creatures such as the angels would live here. the buildings are ornate and carefully carved, while still feeling light and delicate. the streets are inviting and the people hospitable--albeit sometimes aloof. many structures have a touch of sunlight sands to them, and the whole city seems alive with a warm, friendly glow.
ivory jungle this jungle looks like the ruins of some ancient columned structure. the trees here have no top foliage, but end in spikes, perfect ones, as if someone carved them that way. the strangest part about this forest is that every single tree is ivory in color. it's safe to say no one comes here to hide.
vuelie an underground city, carved out of the ice caverns below this part of vailon, vuelie is also known as the singing caves. though the city isn't that far under ground, moisture builds on the tops of the caves at a constant and falls and the sound echos making the most beautiful music, as if angels were descending and organs and the choir had started up.
port lux port lux is a pretty jovial place and you can always find a good time here. its peaceful, the people that work at the port itself are usually very busy, but never too busy to sit and have a drink when they need a break. the port is a little tough to get to and you have to sail through valkyrie territory to get there.
radieux radieux means 'radiant' in enochian and this town is, indeed, radiant. in a prime location, the buildings here are always snow covered but, most amazing of all are the giant, carved ice archways from every opening to said town. ice is a big design piece in their architecture and decorations.
crystal flower forest some names are more literal than others and this is one of them. this forest is made up not of trees but of huge flowers that are made of crystals. the crystals are easily breakable and thus they aren't worth much so everyone leaves the forest in peace; it's just a lovely sight.
luna clair thus named because the moonlight reflects off every surface in this town, especially the frozen water, and is used to power special lanterns to be used at night. the people here worship the moon and her power and are known to hold festivals on the full moon.
sunlight sands a rather soft and calm stretch of sands, it is a favored spot for the locals. on certain nights the sand becomes peppered with tiny, blue orbs that glow magnificently, brought in from the depths of the ocean and blown straight up. during special festivals, they are bottled and used as decorative lanterns, but are always thrown back to the waters once celebrations are over.
fallyn shores everything on this shore varies in color of the neutral scales. the sands are charcoal, the bark of the palm trees black, the leaves on them a light grey, the animals you find here are white. it as as though all the color was taken from this area leaving nothing but whites, blacks, and greys. somehow, it is majestic and mysterious in it's shroud of bleakness though. snow never falls here, which is strange considering snow falls all over vailon.
petaleur petaleur is famous for its snowbirds and ice flowers. the snowbirds are cute little pudgy birds that are raised to be a great meal for people around vailon (and sometimes pets); the biggest farm is here. the ice flowers are a key ingredient in ice flower wine which petaleur doesn't make, but they export the flowers to lumière to be made into wine.
boreas also known as the place where the lights dance in the sky. the only reason people would come out this far into the tundra is to see the town boreas and the lights that shine above it. however there's a lovely town here and the people here are pretty hospitable since they don't get many visitors unless those visitors want to see the lights.
the unforgiven named because it's weather is unforgiving. with sharp winds and cold snow, these mountains are dangerous for anyone who is not accustomed to this cold. only the bravest or the most foolish call these mountains their home.
wynter bastion this is julian cross' headquarters and base of operations; a truly fearsome, snow-covered place. tall peaks of ice spiral up to the sky like fangs. there's a pride of albino lions in the area, twice the size of normal lions and ten times as fierce, said to have been bred by cross himself. they are said to be able to live centuries and will be loyal to whomever proves their worth to them. they constantly get into fights with the bloodfang direwolves and have been known to cross-breed with them as well.
the superstitious and skeptics alike seem to agree that this is a place better left alone. strange lights move around these ruins at all hours of the day, quick illusions of what once was flicker in and out of existence and strange shadows dart in and out of the corner of the eye. those who only see these few things are considered lucky.
nycto cliffs nycto cliffs is home to a huge population of fishing bats. at night, they gather and circle the waters of the argis sea, diving to their depths and pulling fish from the surface; their sonar is said to confuse the fish enough to get them to come to the surface.
blitzkrieg this city is literally the hub of all illegal and underground activity in zweis and it is in your best interest to stay away. the town itself is made of completely blackened stones as well as hardened volcanic rock. it boasts a pit of lava in the center of town and its been said that those that can't pay up on their debts are thrown into it.
the hothaus it may look like a jungle, but in reality it's a natural sauna. the outer ring of trees have grown thicker and wider than most, and they end up trapping in most of the heat and humidity that forms during the day. some of the fiercest demon warriors and assassins use this massive subtropical forest as a training ground.
styx this town is forgetful, small, dark, and dank, it's nothing special. most people avoid dark places like the plague, but this one people don't even know to avoid because it is that insignificant. little do people know that's all a cover, a spell or charm of some type to hide the dark underbelly of what this town is really all about.
nächlicht home to the demons, nächtlicht is a town that seems to be in an eternal phase of twilight. the sun, always seeming to be on the horizon (even when it does rise and fall properly), sets huge, golden rays that look like fire, slashing across the sky, catching in every window and refracting its fiery hues across the town. its neither a dangerous, nor safe place to be. the council building sits in the center like a dark god looming over everyone and everything underneath it.
port nox contrary to port lux, we have port nox. it is not jovial or bright here, its usually pretty sullen and business oriented. its also dangerous and you can absolutely see someone's throat slit right in the middle of the port.
zeitgeist when a weary traveler walks into this town, they are always struck with the strange feeling that they have once been in a town just like this one. they have not, for zeitgeist is a place all its own, but everything from the villagers to the cobblestone streets have a strange air about them, almost like they have existed in other places before.
sea of stars
the sea of stars is justly named, mainly because it's filled with plenty of different sea creatures that seem to glow. they're not dangerous, not diseased in any way, but if you fly above the sea it always looks like you're staring down at a starry sky rather than looking up at one.
argis sea the argis sea is an ocean of peace and prosperity. this is the ocean sea creatures go to when they are near extinction, though it's only happened a few times, the trend has been noticed. then the creatures will return to their homes, it's odd. but argis sea is just lovely like that; refreshing and revitalizing. there is even said to be a traveling sea caravan who has made their home here, letting the waves take them around the argis sea.
frecknur isles home to the valkyrie kingdom, this set of islands floats about fifteen thousand feet in the air, tethered to the ground only by large, thick vines attached to ocean rocks deep below the surface. the valkyrie are not as welcoming as other species and they prefer to spend their time in the air rather than deal with the affairs of species they consider ignorant. in valkyrja, 'frecknur' means 'freckle'--a rather innocuous and innocent name for a set of islands where blood and iron are paramount.
striarc abyss the deepest darkest waters are called home by the deepest and darkest sea creatures. ships are known to avoid sailing across the abyss, pure of heart sea creatures swim around it and even those who possess flight tend to avoid flying across the abyss. it is a place of mystery and those who know its secrets have grown darker because of it
atlantis one of the most fantastical cities ever seen, atlantis is, naturally, underwater and the outer walls of buildings are lined with mosaic-like work of shells, glass and coral. there are even some bubble-like structures that act as 'false land zones' where less adventurous members of the city can bask and sunbathe in artificial magical sunlight.
